Dr. Kaushik Dutta Sharma, Associate professor, HoD, Department of Theatre & Acting Skills, Ramoji Krian Universe (RKU) organised a session on Studies in Media, Design, Creative Arts and Applied Social Sciences on behalf of Ramoji Krian Universe, Film City, Hyderabad, on July 28, 2017 in Salesian College, Siliguri Campus from 1.45 pm. Mr. Peter Lepcha, Campus Co-ordinator & Head, Department of English welcomed the Guest speaker. The students from English and Mass Communication departments attended the seminar.
The main objective of the session was to give an impetus to futuristic skills for a knowledge society in a developed economy. Dr. Kaushik enlightened the students about the history of Indian cinema & television. He talked about the benchmark that Ramoji Film City has created in the world of entertainment. He spoke about television being entertainment, development and consumerism. He informed the students about the courses and facilities which are available at Ramoji Krian University. A video was screened featuring Prof. Ujjwal K. Chowdhury, Director, RKU, showcasing the university with numerous opportunities. A discussion that followed enlightened everyone. The programme came to a close by 3:30 pm with the vote of thanks by Mr. Anirban Ghosh, Event Coordinator. As a mark of appreciation ‘Sparkle’ the college magazine was handed over to the guest by Ms.Rochelle Ann Lepcha, Head, Department of Mass Communication.
